LEGO Education Connection Card Duplication

Background

The Connection Cards are used in the LEGO Education Science and LEGO Education Computer Science and AI sets. They are different colors, and, when touched to the components, either activate a pre-programmed program or link it to your student’s Coding Canvas for classroom management.

Only 2 are included in each kit. You can buy all eight for $40.95 (!)

Or you can copy the data to blank NFC cards.

How It Works

I don’t know anything about RFID/NFC but this is what I’ve found out. The connection cards don’t have NDEF data like you would see in typical NFC use, so most readers will not find any information written on the cards. They actually use hex numbers written directly to the card on “pages.” You will need an app that does raw page reading and writing. I used the app that is made by the manufacturer of the cards LEGO uses (MIFARE).

Process

1. Read an original card. In the app, I had to put my cursor in the data section after I clicked Read but before I tapped the card so the data would populate.

1. If the data section doesn’t populate you can write it in directly.

2. Click Write and check the settings.

1. Don’t write pages 00 to 02 since those are unique to the physical card.

3. Tap the new card.

1. These will throw an error when writing.

1. Page 00
2. Page 01
3. Page 02
4. Page 10

4. Test the card!
5. Label your cards so you remember which is which.

This works as of 5/14/2026 with the 445522 set.
